Age of the Main Character
How old is the MC in your YA book? Mine is currently 17 years old and I'm being directed to make her younger. I think I can rewrite to make her 15 years old. Your thoughts on this would be really helpful!

She was 17!?! Sorry, I must have read that part wrong. She seemed so much older to me. Was she just going to work for the summer? For some reason I got it in my head that she had graduated already. I'm sorry about that Michelle. I hope you keep in mind that I'm NOT a writer in any way shape or form when you read my suggestions!
ReplyDeleteYes, my main character is just 17. I graduated high school at 17, so it's not a big stretch for me. (and no, I didn't skip a grade--just had a September deadline that I met by 2 days! So, that's why my book has 28 chapters--I like 28). :-)
ReplyDeleteYou know, it's funny because I graduated at 17 too without skipping grades. I have an October birthday though ;) I just assumed she was 18!
